Keeping Safe on First Dates with People You Don’t Know

707825_thumbnail1These days, more and more people are meeting people that they would like to date online.  There are also many people that get set up on blind dates through friends and acquaintances.  If you are one of the many people who have met someone that you are interested in dating online or have been set up on a blind date, you may be interested on how you can keep safe on a first date with a person that you don’t know.  There are some precautions that you can take to keep your date safe and still have a good time.  When you are unfamiliar with a person, it is always best to take precautions in these situations.  In the following article, we will review some steps that you can take to keep safe on a first date with someone you have just met.

First and foremost, you will want to make sure that you know exactly when and where you will be meeting this person for the first time.  If you are not familiar with the place that you are meeting this other person, this is especially important.  If the person happens not to show up or is late, you do not want to be standing around waiting for them in a neighborhood that may not be very safe for you.  If you are unfamiliar with the location that you are supposed to meet at, you simply need to do a little research.  Driving to the location beforehand is a good way to remedy this problem.  This way you can see what sort of neighborhood it is that you will be meeting in.  If the neighborhood is undesirable you can try to set up a different location for you to meet.  The best places for you to meet a person that you are unfamiliar with are public places.  In fact, you will want to make sure that the place you meet this other person is very public.  Until you know someone, there is no harm in keeping your meetings to public places.  This will ensure your safety while you begin to get to know this person.  If the person has good intentions, there should be no problem with meeting in public places.  Of course, you can move on to more private locations once you get to know and trust the person in question.  Keeping your first dates simple is also another good rule to follow in this scenario.  Keep your dates down to one or two locations to start with.  This will be helpful to both parties involved.

The next step you will want to take to ensure that your first date with someone is as safe as possible is to make sure that there are friends and family members that know where you are going and the other details of the date.  Make sure you tell your friends and family who you are going on the date with as well.  This way, if something goes wrong, there are people who know where you were supposed to be and who you were supposed to be with.  This is a step that has saved lives in the past, so do not overlook it!
